Dear 7th and 10th Grade Parents:

I would like to take a moment to update you on the status of our art department.  We have been working tirelessly to hire two art teachers to complete our staffing needs.  The positions are posted on our website and we have been collaborating with the College for Creative Studies to review applicants and conduct interviews.  We are working hard to find the right fits for our school community.  In the meantime, we want to ensure your child is receiving a top-quality education in the field of art and design.  We have instituted the following plan until we can hire full time art teachers:

In the 7th grade we have invited Mr. Smith from Substitute Teaching Specialists to fill in as a long-term substitute.  He is working closely with our Art Team Leader, Ms. Manal Kadry to design and deliver quality instruction.

For our 10th grade students, Mr. Davio will serve as our long-term substitute. He will be supported by Jennifer Bostek, a CCS adjunct faculty member.  Ms. Bostek has done an excellent job writing and delivering rigorous curriculum in line with our high school curriculum scope and sequence.

One additional change we made was switching the first semester 10th grade art elective from Transportation Design to Painting.  This will give us time to fill the position with someone who has the necessary expertise for a Transportation Design course.

Thank you for your patience and support.  We will continue to update you on the status of both positions.
